Trinity is part of the worldwide United Methodist Church. According to the United Methodist Member’s Handbook, “The United Methodist Church, which began as a movement and a loose network of local societies with a mission, has grown into one of the most carefully organized and largest denominations in the world. The United Methodist structure and organization began as a means of accomplishing the mission of spreading Scriptural Holiness over the land. John Wesley recognized the need for an organized system of communication and accountability and developed what he called the “connexion,” which was an interlocking system of classes, societies, and annual conferences.

Until 2009, Indiana had two United Methodist Conferences — North and South. After careful study, discussion and planning, the two conferences merged into one statewide Conference, which Trinity belongs to. We send delegates to the Annual Conference held each summer, and a portion of Trinity’s annual budget is tithed to the Conference. Each Conference is comprised of districts, overseen by a District Superintendent. Trinity is apart of the North District.

Through this system of connectivity, Trinity joins with other Methodists to reach out even further into the world to do, in the words of Methodism found John Wesley, “all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as you ever can.” The internal structure of Trinity begins Ad Council. These lay leaders deal with the vision and policy matters of the church, and provide direction for the staff and lay groups in the congregation. Trinity also has the following lay committees responsible for significant oversight of church operations: Finance, Trustees, Staff/Parish, Endowment and Stewardship. In addition, a Program Team brings together the chairs of several ministry teams to stay informed and connected in their work.

Trinity’s Governing Board, Officers, and Lay Leaders are elected yearly.
